MERU PROJECTS
Foundation & Green Investments
Meru Projects is a registered charity and green fund created to support change-makers and NGOs, by providing funding for the development of technologies that will create a better environment for humanity and the next generations. Led by Morty Langslow, Craig Leeson and Malcolm Wood, the mission of the organisation is to provide grants, invest in new technologies, and support research and development to create solutions while there is still time. The foundation prioritizes education for children in developing countries and provides energy solutions to communities that have traditionally been off grid or reliant on fossil fuels. Clean air, clean energy, clean food technologies are goals that are close to our heart. We invite start-ups, change-makers and entrepreneurs to contact us with their projects.
Meru Projects has partnered with The Last Glaciers to drive awareness and education around issues facing those living in regions affected by glacial loss. The Last Glaciers is the most comprehensive film ever produced about the relationship between climate change, mountain environments and glaciers. Filmed over four years in twelve countries, The Last Glaciers captures the fragility of the natural world and the impact humans have on our life support systems.
Supported by renowned scientific institutions, NASA, MIT, INAIGEM, ICIMOD, Arctic Basecamp, GLACIOCLIM, Oxford University and Climate Outreach, The Last Glaciers will be released in 2025 in support of the UNESCO & WHO International Year of Glaciers' Preservation which reaffirms the UN's resolution "Transforming our World: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development" and the Paris Agreement.
Craig Lesson is available for talks to schools and environmental conferences. Please contact us if you would like more details on licences for viewings for your sustainability events or educational purposes.
THE LAST GLACIERS
A PLASTIC OCEAN
Meru Projects is supporting director Craig Leeson on the production of 'A Plastic Ocean', one of the most awarded environmental documentaries, and described by Sir David Attenborough as "the most important film of our time" to drive awareness on one of humanities greatest issues, Micro and Nono Plastic Pollution and its serious health affects.
A Plastic Ocean documents the global effects of plastic pollution and highlights workable technologies and innovative solutions that everyone - from governments to individuals - can do, to create a cleaner and greener ocean. Bought to you by a group of dedicated scientists, film-makers, social entrepreneurs, scholars, environmentalists and journalists, it explores the fragile state of our oceans and uncovers alarming truths about the consequences of our disposable lifestyles.
PREFABRICATED HOUSES
One of our missions is to provide sustainable, self-sufficient, prefabricated housing for those living in hard-to-reach places in Africa and the Himalayas. These modular homes will provide integrated access to electricity through installed solar panels and a circular sanitation system. The homes will be designed and built especially with Momo Homes, winners of the Edison Award for their innovation in sustainable, modular housing.
Together with the Meru Projects team, we are working to develop new modular homes that are fit for purpose and improve the living conditions for those living in the most complex regions of our planet.
Meru Projects plans on delivering the Homes to these remote areas in 2025.
ARNAKOT PRIMARY SCHOOL
Our key focus at Meru Projects is education and we support remote communities in building schools so that everyone may have access to education. . Our latest project is Arnakot School Located in the foothills of the Himalayas. The Arnakot school provides primary education to students from the surrounding localities. Through our partnership with the Karma Flights, a Nepali based NGO we assisted in funding a new building for the school including the construction of a computer lab operated by solar and a large battery supply for reliable use throughout the school year.
Education is a fundamental driving force towards a better global future and empowering future generations is a core pillar of our change-making strategy.
